The Thorn Birds

This is one of my favorite novels. A story of life changing decisions and love, ripped apart by ambition. A love so pure, so desirable, it's forbidden. The Thorn Birds speaks of true decisions...true love.

I just watched this miniseries, the movie version of the novel. The movie has wonderful actors and actresses, the performances are excellent. I highly recommend this movie to whoever should want to see it. It's a beautiful experience, you'll laugh, you'll cry, and you'll love the Thorn Birds.

There is a legend about a bird which sings just once in its life, more sweetly than any other creature on the face of the earth. From the moment it leaves the nest it searches for a thorn tree, and does not rest until it has found one. Then, singing among the savage branches, it impales itself upon the longest, sharpest spine. And, dying, it rises above its own agony to out- carol the lark and the nightingale. One superlative song, existence the price. But the whole world stills to listen, and God in His heaven smiles. For the best is only bought at the cost of great pain ... Or so says the legend. (By Colleen McCullough)

Richard Chamberlain preformed Father Ralph well. Jamie, which part do you like best?

I think the scene that grabbed me the most was the one in which the Father Ralph was dying.
